PRE-CARE

  • Absolutely NO alcohol, caffeine (there is still caffeine in decaf coffee, tea and chocolate) vitamin-e, steroid medication, supplements, stimulants and any blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen(Advil), Niacin for a FULL 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • If you are on blood thinning medication for previous or current conditions, please let us know immediately and kindly consult your physician prior to your appointment. Having this procedure done while taking blood thinners can cause excessive bleeding during the appointment which will reduce the amount of pigment implantation and retention,  potentially alter your pigment colour and also delay healing which can risk poor retention and possible scarring.

  • No active exercise 12 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Avoid any type of facial, chemical peel, microneedling, microdermabrasion, laser treatments etc. 4 weeks prior, and heavy sunlight (tanning or sunburnt) 1 week prior. Your skin should not be going through a healing process prior to your appointment.

  • Do not tweeze, wax, laser, electrolysis or any other hair removal on the treatment area 1 week prior to your appointment.

  • Avoid Botox and/or fillers anywhere around the treatment area 4 weeks prior to your appointment.

  • Discontinue use of skincare with active ingredients such as Retin-A, Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) on or around the treatment area, as well as any hair growth serums 2 weeks prior.

AFTER-CARE

Proper aftercare, especially over the next 10 days is crucial in determining

the healing, colour retention and final appearance of the treatment area.

Aftercare varies on a case by case basis.

  • Other than regular washing in the shower with a mild, fragrance free cleanser, you want to avoid getting the treatment area wet for the first 2 weeks. This means no submerging the treatment area and avoiding baths, pools, hot tubs etc. Also, avoid excessive sweating before this time as well as it may disrupt the pigment.

  • NO MAKE-UP, LOTION, FACE WASH, SERUMS, SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER etc. should be used on the treatment area for a whole week. Only the specialized aftercare balm provided along with the products recommended specifically for your case should be used until fully healed. After that, avoid all products on them that include active ingredients (acne or anti-ageing products) apply at least a finger length away from the treatment area.

  • DO NOT pick or scratch at the scabbing/flaking.

  • Refrain from chemical peels, lasers etc. (anything harsh on the skin) as well as Botox and Fillers around the area for at least 6 weeks.

  • Avoid direct sunlight and/or tanning beds for 2 weeks. After that time it is recommended that you use SPF to protect your skin from premature fading and colour loss.

  • Do not pluck, wax, thread or engage in any other type of hair removal on or near the treatment area until fully healed.

  • If you are getting an MRI or any other procedure, always inform your medical practitioner or aesthetician that you have a camouflage tattoo.
